Duties: Serve as subject matter expert to provide high quality technology solutions that address business needs by developing applications within mature technology environments. Responsible for Ruby on Rails and Javascript development. Participate in design sessions with fellow programmers, business analysts and team members to analyze business requirements and outline the proposed IT solution. Review designs and provide input to the design recommendations. Incorporate security requirements into design. Provide input to information/data flow and understand and comply to Project Life Cycle Methodology in all planning steps. Adhere to IT Control Policies throughout design, development and testing and incorporate Corporate Architectural Standards into application design specifications. Document the detailed application specifications, translate technical requirements into programmed application modules, and develop/enhance software application modules. Collaborate with fellow developers in design sessions ensuring that all solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications. Identify and troubleshoot application code-related issues. Review and provide feedback to the final user documentation.


Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, or related field plus 3 years of experience in application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines, or related experience OR Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, or related field plus 6 years of experience in application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines, or related experience.

Skills Required: Demonstrated knowledge of Web application development using Ruby based technologies, including Ruby on Rails and Sinatra. Demonstrated knowledge of Web services development using RESTful APIs. Demonstrated knowledge of Front-end development using Javascript frameworks, such as React and NodeJS. Experience building microservices with multiple technology platforms, such as Ruby, JRuby, and Java. Demonstrated understanding of software development design patterns, such as gateway pattern and broker pattern, as well as their implementation. Experience with markup languages, such as HTML, XML, ERB, HAML, SLIM, and JSX. Experience in implementation and integrations with messaging queues, such as RabbitMQ. Experience in implementation and integration with database systems, such as MySql, MongoDB, and Oracle. Experience in efficient code practices, such as DRY, YAGNI and database query optimizations, such as n+1 queries. Experience in implementation and integration of caching mechanisms, such as Redis and Memcache. Demonstrated knowledge of several deployment environments and tools, including cloud-based solutions, such as AWS, CloudFoundry, and Heroku.
