Your role includes researching and analyzing new technologies from Cloud Orchestration Service Mesh Networking Language Run Times, Benchmarking and Optimization. You will be part of prototyping, designing, and implementing solutions.
Our use cases optimize and enhance existing open-source software so that every user has the best possible cloud development experience.
You will be engaging with major customers to understand their priorities and use cases and then provide input to technical direction. You will be building and implementing prototypes to production software to deliver best in class Cloud Native Infrastructure and solutions for Intel Architecture IA processors, both inside Intel and as part of the Cloud Native community.
Building Cloud Native applications that can be deployed anywhere from the Edge to the Cloud is a significant industry trend with projected 11X growth in deployments by 2023.
While Shannon is the primary location for this position, we offer flexibility to work from other Intel sites in Leixlip and in a hybrid model.
Responsibilities:
Leading Open Source contributions into Cloud Native Computing Foundation.
Participating in CNCF SIGs and other influential open source technical groups and communities.
Engaging and building developer communities for Orchestration related Open Source initiatives
Engaging with major customers to understand their priorities and use cases for Open Source components
Providing input to technical direction
Building and implementing prototypes
Researching and analyzing new technologies.
Benchmarking and Optimization: Optimize and enhance existing Open Source software e.g. Kubernetes and Envoy in CNCF and the creation of new enabling functionality where required.
Produce software that leads to best-in-class Cloud Native Infrastructure and solutions for Intel Architecture IA processors
Partnering with eco system to drive industry scale.
Problem solving prototyping designing and implementing solutions
Agile development methodologies.
Qualification
Honours degree, Masters or PhD in a software engineering science related discipline with a proven programming track record in industry
Experience of active participation and positive contributions to Open Source communities and the Open Source ecosystem
Demonstrated experience in similar tech lead roles.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide technical mentorship to engineers to help them achieve their full potential.
Minimum of 5 years software development experience ideally in Cloud Native SW Engineering
Experienced investigating new technologies and sharing technical information with customers and stakeholders
Excellent knowledge and strong development experience in at least two of the following: Golang, C, Python, JAVA, C++
Desired
Experience building Cloud Native Microservices based applications in Azure, AWS and GCP
Experience with cloud orchestration related technologies e.g., Kubernetes Docker etc.
Experience with DevOps and/or DevSecOps.
Linux development experience e.g., Device Drivers Kernel and Application development
Experience in networking and related protocols e.g., Ethernet TCP/IP Switching and Routing
Experience with Web Assembly Run Time workloads
Knowledge of Linux Kernel Networking and or User Space Networking e.g., DPDK
Experience building distributed applications
Knowledge of virtualization technologies e.g., application development on KVM QEMU VMWARE
Excellent knowledge of Golang with strong development experience
