About the job

We are looking for a data engineer to join our data team in Amsterdam. You will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data lake and architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection across multiple platforms. You will be working in a dynamic team where you can learn, share knowledge and have an impact on the overall data flow.

Our ideal candidate is someone who has experience in designing data pipelines and enjoys optimizing existing ones while making sure high-quality data is being delivered throughout different systems.

What you will do

  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architectures while monitoring and maintaining existing ones
  • Integrate to external third party APIs to enrich our data collection
  • Optimize data pipelines and workflow to maximize operational performance and efficiency
  • Maintain and improve our data ingestion platforms
  • Help migrating data across different databases and servers
  • Build a data quality monitoring system
  • Work with data analysts and data scientists to strive for a greater functionality of our data systems
  • Collaborate with diverse teams of technical and non-technical colleagues

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor degree in a related field (e.g. Engineering / Programming / Data Science) and preferably 3+ years of relevant working experience
  • Strong programming skills in Python and eager to learn PHP to maintain our legacy data ingestion platforms
  • Fluent in SQL
  • Extensive knowledge of Redshift
  • Familiarity with AWS services such as Spectrum, Kinesis and Lambda is a plus
  • Experience in Airflow or other pipeline orchestration technologies
  • Good grasp of ETL and ELT
  • Familiarity with event-driven architecture
  • Solid understanding of Object-Oriented design patterns and methodologies
  • Experience in version control/git
  • Good understanding of docker, CI and CD
  • Hands-on data streaming processing technologies like SNS and SQS is a plus
  • Open to learning new technologies
