Merlogi, Inc. is a Mercari Group company established on October 28, 2021, with the mission of “Relaying value far and wide for kinder living.” With our unique data and technology, we aim to provide logistics services kinder to all people involved and to society as a whole. We’re working to expand Mercari Posts and other Mercari touchpoints to more locations and build a package pickup distribution network, creating an even better experience for Mercari’s more than 20 million monthly users.
The main components of the role are as follows:
Design, develop and test exciting new features iteratively using a data-driven mindset.
Take full ownership (as a team) of a large domain comprising many codebases impacting millions of Mercari users.
Learn domain knowledge, technical skills, and industry disciplines with the aim to teach and continuously improve the team as a whole.
Be on-call for several production systems.

Shared understanding and belief in our company’s mission and values
Strong backend experience working with distributed systems in the cloud.
Proven ability to quickly learn new technologies and skills if not already familiar.
Professional engineering experience with consumer applications.
Demonstrated ability to write clean-code with appropriate tests.
Strong experience working in large Go (or PHP) codebases
Strong experience on relational databases.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes or similar systems
Technical or team leadership experience in cross-functional teams.
Strong sense of software engineering (Design, security and ownership) for product.
Web (React) or mobile (native iOS/Android) experience is a plus.

Technical Assessment Criteria
Github based project that will take 2-3 hours to complete.

Probationary period: First 3 months after joining the company. (During this period your contract conditions will be the same as that of a permanent employee.)
Smoking is prohibited within our offices
Mercari has introduced a work style policy called “Your Choice.” Each member is free to choose whether they want to work in the office or work fully remote. *Exceptions made for certain kinds of work.
Scheduled working hours: 10 AM – 7 PM
Currently, due to COVID-19 pandemic, we have introduced a full-flex system without core time to increase the choice of working hours and allow for more flexible working styles. (*does not apply to all positions)
Two days off per week (as well as national holidays, New Year's break, etc.)
