As our (Senior) Cloud Platform Engineer (m/f/d) you will be at the very core of Covestro’s Cloud transformation. You will empower the digital vision standing behind a leading cloud-based infrastructure together with a team of high-performing engineers. You will engineer our AWS cloud platform as a part of the cloud enablement engine and, in so doing, play a vital role in Covestro’s path to become a cloud native company.
We are looking for a hands-on engineer (m/f/d) who will:
Be part of the cloud platform team for our AWS landing zone operation, closely collaborating with our cloud architects, application managers and DevOps teams
Drive continuous improvement and automation within an SRE adoption, including IaC or serverless technology
Contribute to operate and improve Covestro cloud consumption models (PaaS, IaaS, SaaS)
Foster the agile DevOps culture to improve customer satisfaction through rapid, continuous delivery and reliable operation
Contribute to manage the ecosystem of supply partners
Contribute to further develop and to operate on various platforms including Linux and Windows
Put security as priority One to all tasks and solutions
Contribute to projects related to various platforms and cloud technology, from their concept phase to deployment and operation
WHAT YOU OFFER
You have a university degree (Master) in computer science or business administration and a further education to a certified cloud specialist plus sound professional experience in infrastructure and cloud operations
Strong experience in operating, designing and migrating applications on the AWS platform
Demonstrated expertise in Information Technology Service Management (ITSM), virtualization platforms and various cloud platform setups like private, public and hybrid clouds
Demonstrated experience with incorporating automation technologies like IaC and capacity management principles
Demonstrated experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Kubernetes and Docker as well as supporting distributed systems operating securely in cloud environments
You gained multiple years of experience in designing, implementing and operating complex Linux based application landscapes and cloud solutions and are familiar with virtualization (e.g. KVM), container technology (e.g. Docker), agile development processes (e.g. Scrum and DevOps) and related tools for automation and monitoring (e.g. Jenkins, Jira, Kickstart, Nexus, Puppet, Chief, Ansible, Nagios, Check_MK)
You have excellent analytical skills and professional experience in cloud technology, networks and standard protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, IPsec, SSL, SSH, SMTP, HTTP, DNS), various programming languages (e.g. Perl, Go, Python, C) and IT security concepts; additionally you are familiar with cloud computing including serverless architectures and in using GIT repositories and CI/CD-pipelines;
For this position you have good organizational and team skills and are strong in communication at various hierarchical levels; you are experienced to contribute in solution oriented, agile and flexible team structures (DevOps) and in cross-functional international projects
