This is an opportunity for a creative DevOps Practitioner / Digital Transformation Engineer to join a dynamic and multi-disciplined organization involved in innovating solutions for complex technical systems. MITRE seeks professionals with various expertise (e.g. software tools, processes, DevSecOps, CI/CD, cloud services, agile methodologies, transition design, etc.) to work with a team of experienced experts working in digital transformation efforts. You will provide thought leadership and problem solving for government customers in collaboration with stakeholders from private, federal, state and local sectors.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding and studying various problem domains, architecting solutions and delivering high quality distributed applications

  • Leading cross-functional teams to design, build and deploy automated systems that meet specific business needs

  • Coach, staff and mentor junior members in DevOps tools and processes

  • Play the role of a consultant to diverse stakeholders inside of MITRE and to Government sponsors and collaborate with a common goal of finding simple solutions to hard problems

  • Recognized as a subject matter expert that is aware of industry trends and best practices and applies them consistently across projects

  • Treats all challenges as opportunism to learn, excel and deliver state of the art solutions to solve nation’s problems

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS and 5 years related experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance

  • Hands-on experience with architecting and automating cloud native technologies; provisioning IaC, IaaS, or SaaS; and deploying applications

  • Professional experience in software development process, tools and languages like Python, Ruby, Go, Java, MySQL, MongoDB, Git

  • Experience with microservices, Chef, Puppet or Ansible and Docker-Compose in production environments

  • Hands-on experience with code merging and promotion and building and managing CI/CD workflows and tools

  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

  • Strong ability to communicate core DevOps concepts (CI/CD, Agile & Automation)

  • Understanding of scalable computing systems, software architecture, data structures, design patterns and algorithms

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science or related discipline

  • Minimum of 5 years of applicable DevOps and related software lifecycle experience

  • Experience in network, distributed, asynchronous and concurrent programming

  • Must be eligible to possess and maintain a DoD security clearance

  • Must have demonstrated proficiency and strength in verbal, written, presentation, and communications skills

  • Experience in agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, SAFe, Feature and Test-Driven Development, Lean, Lean Startup, etc.)

  • Familiarity and ability to demonstrate development or application of Machine Learning and AI systems

  • Familiarity with systems engineering practices and mindsets (including system of systems)
