We're looking for a Platform Tech Lead to join our London based Technology team on a permanent basis.

Despite the current circumstances we are still recruiting for roles. In compliance with UK Government advice relating to COVID-19 this role will be remotely based in line with our current workforce and we will supply you with the tools and technologies to enable you to do so. Similarly all interviews will be conducted by google hangouts or equivalent video conferring technologies.

Over the next twelve months we will be developing both our commercial and advocacy product offering, trialling new ways of working, driving innovation and enabling the teams we work with through the provision of new platforms and technologies.

What you'll be doing

Reporting to our Head Of Technology, you will Lead the Digital Platform team to build infrastructure and ensure that all systems are well maintained and secure.

In addition you will:

  • Define and embed the agile way of working within the Platforms team (e.g. standups, planning sessions, retrospectives).
  • Build strong relationships with other technology leaders and external stakeholders to ensure efficient cross team working and solutions.
  • Evaluate new technologies and help to introduce them into the Platforms team where appropriate.
  • Support the migration of existing infrastructure to AWS, Azure and SAAS platforms.
  • Support, develop and engage team members through mentoring, coaching, feedback, peer reviews and paired working.
  • Create infrastructure from code for each of the required environments (test, preprod, prod).
  • Script all infrastructure configuration and ensure that all environments/stacks are templatised and organised into reusable components.
  • Define, contribute and influence the target infrastructure architecture.
  • Lead the recruitment, development and performance management of the Platform team engineers.
  • Ensure that the Platform team follows the agreed CAB process for all releases and system changes.
  • Develop and Manage resource planning for the Platform Team.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience working as a lead or principal Infrastructure engineer within an IT team.
  • Experience building infrastructure from code and config for high volume services.
  • VMware VCentre and VMWare ESXi implementation and design.
  • Knowledge of configuration management software such as: Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) or Ansible
  • In depth understanding of the HTTP protocol.
  • In-depth experience of technical debugging and analysis of infrastructure and web applications.
  • Solid understanding of SQL Server Administration, Database Design, TSQL, Stored Procedures/Triggers, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • In depth knowledge of operational and application security.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts such as: DNS, Windows Internet Name Service (Wins), DHCP, Routing, Subnets, VPNs, Sockets, the OSI model, TCP and UDP.
  • Windows System Deployment to AWS or Azure.
