YOUR TEAM

It is our mission at the CARIAD ADAS & AD team to develop one unified technology stack in-house that brings Level 4 automated driving and parking to private cars and at the same time scales down to supply important NCAP safety functionalities to the entire VW fleet - making mobility safer and creating a new level of driving comfort. You have the opportunity to work in an agile and highly motivated interdisciplinary team to build safe, secure and scalable software solutions that will shape the future of the Volkswagen group. As a senior software engineer, you will tackle challenging tasks in areas such as camera image processing, perception, environment model, sensor data fusion, situation interpretation, path planning, control algorithms, driver interaction, digital map localization or others.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Take responsibility for one or more software components on different embedded platforms from design to implementation
  • Collect, analyze, document, and align requirements for functions and features with stakeholders and use them as input into software and architectural design according to automotive processes and company standards together with a team of other module owners and software architects
  • Develop and evaluate complex algorithms using simulations and optimize them for deployment on various heterogenous SoCs or embedded systems
  • Improve the design of new and existing components and coordinate and contribute to the implementation together with a team of developers
  • Support the validation through software, embedded system, function, and, if applicable, vehicle tests on the road often even driving prototypes
  • Document your work properly and actively encourage others to do so while improving and maintaining working processes as well as the development infrastructure in the scope of your team

WHO YOU ARE

  • Degree in computer science, software engineering, vehicle engineering, electrical engineering or a comparable field with several years of professional experience developing software
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in one or more of the following programming languages C, C++, Python or SIMULINK for developing embedded system software (e.g. resource friendly design, optimization and profiling, ideally MISRA)
  • Enjoy solving complex problems and implement them in qualitatively demanding software
  • Professional experience in automotive function development, computer vision on hardware accelerators on different SoCs using specific technologies such CUDA or OpenCL, and machine learning for video perception and image signal processing
  • Experience with a typical OS used in embedded automotive software development like AUTOSAR, real-time Linux, QNX or Integrity is a plus as well as data handling frameworks (e.g. ADTF, ROS, etc.)
  • Professional experience using state-of-the-art development processes (A-SPICE / CMMI, ISO 26262) and working in agile environments (Scrum, SAFE) is a plus
  • Excellent social, teamwork, and communication skills with proficient German and good English are mandatory
