The Converts Team

Cabriolet is the strategic platform for Convertible Bonds Trading and the team's responsibily is for the end-to-end trading / Order Management System for the converts business. This includes RFQ/workflow, pricing, eTrading, leveraging quant libraries and custom \"nuking\" calculations for bond pricing, reguatlory reporting, market data/marking, and lots more.

The system contains a mix of Java services, plus a new stack of services on the cloud, plus new UI \"micro-apps\" in react.js on the cloud. Additionally, Kafka, Tibrv, Spring Boot are heavily used and welcome skills.

The team is spread globally across HK, London, NY and we are setting up in 2021 a new Converts India Team centered in Mumbai which you could be a part of, and this new India team is expected to continue to expand this and next year and will be responsible for major global business initiatives.

Converts Software Engineer Role

Highly skilled developer to work on projects for order management, trade capture and lifecycle management for equity derivatives. Using Java and HTML5 (react.js), the challenge is to deliver features, services, UIs that deliver business value to the Converts trading desk which have an ambitious agenda to keep you interested and engaged in delivering to the business. Huge efforts are also being undertaken to modernize the platform, shifting services to the cloud and UIs to the web.

We are looking for a highly talented and driven technologist who has a track record of delivering high-quality solutions in an investment bank or other fast-paced industry where first class solutions are the norm.

Key Responsibilities

Hands on development of new applications and new components of existing systems using Java and/or react.js

Developer for strategic revenue generating business projects

Deliver innovative solutions and help modernization journey, leveraging technologies such as Kafka, Reactjs, Spring Boot, etc.

Global development team, with business centers in HK/London/NY

Work with the business and quant analysts to understand use cases, functional and non-functional requirements. Directly interfacing with business users (traders/sales/quants)

Collaborating with other developers in an agile environment.

Participation in code reviews and sharing of knowledge with other members of the team.

Provide a high level of user experience through an innovative and intuitive user interface.

Ability to operate with minimal supervision, to agreed strategy, facing-off to business (Front Office) users.

Report progress to management. Good communication skills will be paramount.

Essential skills

Significant previous software engineering experience in either Java and/or React.js

Strong OO design skills with in-depth knowledge of object modelling and design patterns.

Computer science background with an intellectual rigour.

Ability to solve complex problems.

Good communication and team-working skills.

Desirable skills

React.js skills on top of Java, full stack developer.

Kafka experience

Knowledge of cloud (AWS/K8) would be useful, else willingness to learn

Experience of working in financial services with knowledge of derivatives products and lifecycle.

Good knowledge of Java with some hands-on experience.
