Purpose: Act as a hands on tech leader for our web platforms as we continue our international growth plans.

Here at Beauty Bay, technology is the driving force behind our current & future growth plans as we constantly look at new ways to enhance our customers shopping experience.

Our full stack teams are at the forefront of innovation, having delivered exciting apps that have transformed the way we work and the way our customers shop.

And we’re not stopping, with loads of exciting digital projects in the pipeline (Website launches, AI & ML, Mobile Apps to name a few) and in March 2021, we’re also embarking on a huge data modernization project transitioning our old stack into a cloud (AWS) first data architecture.

Put simply:

"We want to push boundaries, it's in our DNA. We have an amazing team, who as well as delivering business value are constantly innovating and driving forward our engineering methods. We strongly believe in good software craftsmanship, sound engineering principles, DevOps and automation, and we're looking for self starters with curious minds, who lead by example and thrive in a fast-paced agile environment."

We’re currently looking for a hands on Tech Leader, a key hire for us, to lead & mentor a small group of devs (3 initially) in a fast-paced agile team who utilise multiple CI tools to ensure clean test driven code is deployed to production multiple times a day, no time for red tape!

We’re a full stack development team with JavaScript being the technology of choice, using React for front end projects (with Enzyme, Jest and Cypress testing libraries), developing APIs using Node, creating applications using AWS services (Lambda, S3 and SQS and utilising multiple CI tools to deploy code as soon as it’s ready for production.

  • Active involvement in the design and development of applications, servers and APIs

  • Work collaboratively and lead a team of 3 to 5 agile engineers

  • Mentor junior members of the team

  • Help foster an agile engineering culture

  • Work with product managers and internal business stakeholders to define requirements and plans

  • Contribute to the definition and implementation of good engineering patterns and practices within the team and across the wider digital community

  • Currently a Senior / Lead Developer, a hands on coder whilst mentoring those around you too.

  • A strong track record building microservices written in Node.js

  • Deep experience with JavaScript frameworks (particularly ReactJS, ExpressJS etc)

  • Creation of CI pipelines (TeamCity & OctopusDeploy) for deployment of Node.js apps, Windows Services, Scheduled Tasks and Applications

  • Experience designing and/or interacting with RESTful APIs

  • Experience with test-driven development

  • Knowledge of AWS, Lambda (with Serverless), SQS, DynamoDB & ECS

We like a relaxed working environment and there’s always a buzz about our offices (and even in this current climate our team have embraced remote working with daily events to keep us all closely aligned).

We operate a flexible working policy, so you choose the hours that work best for you. Breakfast is on us and we have a casual dress code. We offer 33 days holiday per year, a generous staff discount scheme, regular team socials and more….

There’s nothing that excites us more than hiring great talent, fuelling it, then letting it fly. We’d love to hear from you today, so get in touch with our Talent Partner, Emily Hockings, she’d love to discuss this role further.
