As an Engineering Chapter Lead you will take reporting line responsibility of multiple developers in our Engineering Chapter. These engineers will be part of different cross-functional squads so you will have a variety of business and technology topics to contextualize in your role. You will be responsible for coaching and mentoring them in their career, being their go-to-person when they want guidance or advice on how to progress on a challenging topic or idea or area of conflict.

At the same time, you will be also hands-on contributing to the success of the company and engineering chapter by being a member of one of the squads where you will also be helping the squad to deliver value. Our squads use agile methodologies to organize themselves and aim to be autonomous and self-optimizing. In this spirit, you will foster the team members to achieve excellence without assuming a decision maker role, the aim to is enable the engineering squad members to elevate themselves by looking up to you as setting the high standards.

As an Engineering Chapter Lead you will need to get the best out of every Engineering Chapter member, even those who are experts in technical domains that you have not had direct experience of previously yourself.


  • Line management of 3 to 5 engineers spending between 30% to 40% of your time on coaching, mentoring and other career development activities such as goal setting and reviews
  • Hands-on contribution as a squad member spending between 60% to 70% of your time on coding, testing, code reviews and troubleshooting.
  • Active participation in design reviews and in digital product discussions, working closely with the Product Owners and Product Designers to ensure a healthy delivery process
  • Collaborating with our Product Discovery team in new product idea workshops to bring your technical experience into the conceptualization phase of our products


  • At least 8 years of experience in software development with a minimum of 2 years leading and developing engineering teams.
  • Strong coding ability with core skills in JavaScript programming such as ReactJs and NodeJs.
  • Working in an engineering role that has had close collaboration with business stakeholders
  • Experience working with agile methodologies and practices, e.g. SCRUM, Kanban, cross-functional squads
  • Fluency in English language, German is a plus
