ACV Auctions is the leading dealer-to-dealer, online automotive marketplace in the nation. We bring transparency to every transaction from start to finish, ensuring peace of mind and value for our customers. We do this with a combination of the industry’s best technology and the world’s best people. As a result of our team’s tireless effort and dedication, we’re growing at a staggering rate. ACV is attracting new people from widely different backgrounds and geographies who are invested in the genuine belief that we are creating something special.

What are we looking for:

ACV Auctions is looking for an Engineering Team Lead that will be responsible for several teammates on our auction marketplace team as well as a portion of the product features. This Team Lead position will be more focused on the client side projects and engineers but will also have some aspects of the back-end systems. This team is the power behind our auction products and is responsible for developing new functionality for search, buying, selling, and several other customer journeys related to auctions as well as maintaining and improving existing systems used by thousands of customers every day. You will work alongside product, quality, and infrastructure engineers to build and ship new features that will drive the growth of ACV Auctions. We value practical software experience in addition to computer science fundamentals and training. The technologies you are familiar with are less important to us than your ability to solve complex software problems and apply software engineering best practices.

What you’ll be doing:

• Design, develop, and maintain code for our auction products. • Directly manage 1-4 engineers (mostly with a web platform focus, but not entirely). • Establish development plans and objectives for your direct reports. • Manage some projects your direct reports are working on as well as other teammates from other disciplines. • Work with engineers and product stakeholders to design scalable applications, plan feature roll-out, and ensure high reliability and performance for our products. • Conduct code reviews, contribute high-quality documentation, and build robust test suites for our products.

What you will need:

• BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline or equivalent practical experience. • Some experience leading initiatives or teams as this is the first step toward Engineering Manager. • Minimum 5 years of experience with programming in at least one or a combination of the following: Python, Java, C#, Perl, or JavaScript; front-end experience is preferred for this role. • You have experience in a highly iterative environment with automated testing and continuous integration.

What we will offer:

• Competitive salary and benefits. • Upbeat innovative culture. • Professional training opportunities. • Flexible schedules.

Hiring is contingent on a satisfactory background check as permitted by law. Any falsification of your application or any other hiring materials is grounds for rescinding an offer or termination of employment.

ACV Auctions is an equal opportunity employer (EOE) and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
