East Stroudsburg University currently seeks an Assistant System Administratorwithin Computing and Communication Services.The Assistant Administrator reports to the System Administrator and collaborates and confers with other staff, to plan projects and schedule work.
The holder of this position will work to automate and deploy IT resources via Microsoft Configuration Manager. This activity includes applying this to physical lab machines, physical office machines, virtual machines via Virtual Machine Management (SCVMM), cloning, live migrations, VM Templates creation, keep VM Templates up to date and patched, Software policy enforcement, Software library self-service, updates, and patching (WSUS). Job Duties: The position is expected to support disaster recovery efforts, including DPM 2016 backup and recovery, Offsite online data duplication, Virtual Hosts and VM backups, daily vault archiving, and testing effectiveness of restores on a regular basis The position routinely uses various automation skills, including but not limited to PowerShell scripting, Perl scripting, Bash scripting, Batch scripting, and SQL development. Work duties include Linux administration and application management; user account administration; kernel patches. volume management, package management, and Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP/Perl/Python (LAMP) system administration. Duties extend to Microsoft Windows Systems Administration; user accounts administration, Active Directory administration, Group Policy management, DHCP management, and Print Services management. The position plans, designs, scripts, tests, and using change management best practices places complex tools and utilities into production for use on the network. Duties include the installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues for University wide enterprise applications. Position reviews technical manuals, stays abreast of technical issues by examining literature, attending seminars, conferences and training classes to maintain currency with new information services, products, and IT developments. The position conduct’s feasibility and cost comparison studies and makes recommendations based on the findings; functions as a lead worker for technical work by assigning and reviewing work, training employees, and performing quality control functions for the work. Provides end user and technical support for the student information system (SIS) Banner. Performs other IT work as required Minimum qualifications:
One year as an Information Technology Generalist 1, Applications Developer 1, or Network Specialist 1; or Two years of information technology experience that includes one year of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate’s degree in any information technology field; or Four years of information technology experience that includes one year of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services; or A bachelor's degree in any information technology field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
A written skill assessment will be required at time of interview.
- BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving scripting and coding (powershell, perl, bash, batch, java, python, etc) or equivalent practical experience.
- In depth knowledge of networks and servers in a networked environment.
- Knowledge of AD, LDAP and Group Policies
- Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager experience.
- Knowledge of server hardware and computer security.
- Experience with Microsoft DPM.Virtual environments.
Preferred qualifications may be used to further reduce the pool of applicants to those who are most highly qualified.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:00am to 4:30pm. 37.5 Hours/Week.
Salary: $58,895.00, plus excellent benefits. Final selection will be based upon a successful interview and background check.
